LETTI (Latvian pagans rock) Riga, LAIMAS MUZYKANTI (Latvian etno-rock)
Group “Letti” is a Latvian rock group, founded in the end of 2017 by Ilmars Vekters a former bass guitar player and one of the founders of the legendary metal group “Rūsa”. This time, after a thirty-year long silence, he performs as a guitar player, vocalist and song writer.
The group is playing energic, melodious guitar music involving folk music elements - melodies, instruments, symbols. The Latvian Dainas, folk songs, and also verses written by themselves are used in the lyrics. With musical intonations and Latvian texts, the group tries to show, remind and highlight the beauty of the Latvian people, in order to extoll and strengthen national self-pride, first of all for Latvians themselves, secondly, to create an interest in the uniqueness of Latvians to others.
Group members: Ilmārs Vekters – vocal, guitar, Atis Jēkabsons – guitar, Dāvis Lipste – guitar, Kaspars Orehovs – bass, Agris Perro – drums.
“Laimas Muzykanti” – founded in 1995 in Daugavpils. The founder and the group leader even till now, is a musician, poet, composer, arranger and multi-instrumentalist, social and culture personality Artūrs Uškāns known as a musician of the group “Ducele”.
“Laimas Muzykanti” have performed together with many famous Latvian artists and performers – Ieva Akuratere, Olga Rajecka, Lauris Reiniks, group „Elpa”, Leila Alijeva, folclore group „Vilki”, group „Iļģi” u.c.
They have participated in festivals, concert tours, and concerts in Latvia, Lithuania, the USA, Canada, Australia, Turkey, Poland, Hungary, Belorussia, Russia, Germany, Italy, Uzbekistan, South Korea.
“Laimas Muzykanti” have released three albums of their own and participated in recording compilations with other musicians, received several prizes of Annual Latvian Music Recording Awards and Annual Latgalian Culture Award “Boņuks”.
Since 1998 the music of “Laimas Muzykanti” have been performed in all programs of Latvian Song and Dance Festival, as well in 2020 XII Latvian School Youth Song and Dance Festival.
In 2015, together with the folk group “Iļģi”, “Laimas Muzykanti” represented Latvia in the International World Music Festival „Sharq taronalari” in Uzbekistan, Samarkand.
In 2018 “Laimas Muzykanti” represented Latvia in the culture program of XXIII Winter Olympic Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea, where they gave 5 concerts, two of them were broadcasted on TV all over the world.
Now “Laimas Muzykanti” are working on a new album in Riga
