27 September, Daugavpils chamber orchestra as the string orchestra of the city of Daugavpils was founded by Aivars Broks – the conductor and the principal of Daugavpils Music Secondary School on 27 September, 2007 with a concert in Daugavpils Latvian Culture Center’s Big hall. The basis for the orchestra was the chamber orchestra of Latgale Folk Conservatory (now Stanislavs Broks Daugavpils Music Secondary School) established in 1925.

In 2017 the winds group joined the string group as a result the orchestra became larger and more powerful; due to this the name was changed - the orchestra became DAUGAVPILS SINFONIETTA.

27 September, 2019 the orchestra - as the orchestra of Daugavpils city is celebrating its 12th anniversary and in cooperation with Daugavpils professional winds orchestra Daugava and Daugavpils musicians – soloists offers the concert TANGO (STROKS. PIAZZOLLA. GARDEL).

The concert is devoted to the famous Oscar STROKS, along with two other famous tango masters Astor PIAZZOLLA and Carlos GARDEL. During the concert tangos of other authors will be performed as well as music of similar genre written by Sor BIZE, Gerardo RODRIGUEZ, Angel VILLOLDO, Consuelo VELASKESA, and Craig ARMSTRONG.
